It's a challenge for Australia to achieve unprecedented feats.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with six more T20 titles, and earlier maintained over three years undefeated in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a team that has won it all.

The fact it required as late as Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to achieve their initial ODI chase exceeding 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the pitchers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's difficult for their batsmen to maintain a record if never given the possibility.

In the end, the result of Australia allowing 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy being given a platform to produce her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after her country didn't secure either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 successful years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her bow and seven world titles have followed from 10 attempts across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the winning streak.

That loss "motivated us to reevaluate our levels," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy scored 170 against England in the championship match and was awarded tournament MVP. She guaranteed her country would not fall short again.

The question of whether this latest epic knock topped that previous effort can be debated.

Certain people claim the case for the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the difficulty that comes when confronting a historic chase and a raucous India-supporting crowd of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was considerably tougher to anticipate.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 occurred when she topped the run-scoring charts, but this innings was preceded by six games in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a challenging time because it appeared I've had no rhythm whatsoever," said Healy.

"Yet the moment you step out on the field, your competitive instincts take over and you simply focus on the competition."

Healy's competitiveness has consistently been her major advantage - and an irreplaceable characteristic in replacing iconic ex-skipper Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's inspiration.

A single was taken off the bowler's initial ball and after that Healy was on her way.

"The possibility to take the field and engage in competition with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, somewhat inspired me," stated Healy.

She achieved fifty in 35 deliveries - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 as she flogged anything short, scoring 21 fours and three big hits.

When she was removed the team needed 66 more at run per delivery - a manageable total now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the confidence to do that now," stated Healy further.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to repeat it but, should it happen, we know we can achieve it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup should hear.

During the last week a feeling they will win from any position has become more firm - this victory coming after victory over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with traditional opponents England in Indore in ten days, by which point a last-four spot may likely be confirmed.

It was in the semi-finals they were eliminated from the previous year's T20 World Cup in a surprising setback by South Africa - a match Healy missed because of torn tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at an important competition.

So great is her will, she afterwards commented she wanted to have participated through the pain.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those fitness problems have postponed consideration of ending her career, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is still to achieve an international tournament as skipper.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
