AC Shadows Unveils Unexpected AoT Crossover for Holiday Season
In a unexpected collaboration that defies traditional expectations, Ubisoft has announced an virtual collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, including complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Adventure Disclosed
According to the formal release, "An unusual confrontation draws heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where hints of forbidden rituals and monstrous changes echo through the darkness." The storyline introduces a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Gemstone Grotto—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her friend from a clandestine group.
The mission centers on "peculiar experiments and a monstrous adversary" and is available to all players who have acquired the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Locations and Metamorphoses
The preview showcases the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This historic location was formerly where the Reiss royal family transmitted the Founding Titan ability through ages. The trailer concludes with a striking sequence showing a character, likely the captive, changing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Exclusive Prizes and Additional Features
Players who successfully complete the mission will obtain an exclusive katana alongside several artifacts concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also contains purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, offering:
- Titan-inspired attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Special implements
- Survey Corps vehicle
Newest Free Story Addition
This release also introduces the game's third free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This playful quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they swap distinctive techniques: Naoe debuts a theatrical variation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-lethal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "A Puzzlement" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally explain some lingering questions from the main storyline.

The series earlier showcased a 2020 collaborative story connecting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga.
